    The Dean’s Office
    The Dean attended several conferences within the past two years and was at the 2015 conference of all vice chancellors of Nigerian Universities. The Dean. Prof. G.n. Emecheta. FCA officially represented the institute of chartered Accountants of Nigeria at the 2015 conference of All vice-chancellors of Nigerian Universities, and donated the sun of N5 million Naira (N5,000.000.00) on behalf of the institute. The amount has since been paid to the beneficiary.

    Our Mission
    Our mission is to produce well-trained graduates in core management sciences. (that is Accountancy and Business Administration) who will be well-equipped for active participation in the socio-economic development of the state and Nigeria at large. As Cross River State is blazing the trail in tourism and culture, the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management is established to address the needed manpower to serve the state and country in general.
    The Faculty academic programmes have been developed on the assumption that in our developing economy, organizations of all types (big or small. Profit or non-profit making) face challenges from the complexity and dynamics socio-economics environment.

    The faculty is established to be a centre of excellence for teaching, learning, research and the provision of community services in the areas of Accountancy and Business Management.

    The general philosophy of the faculty academic programme is to create an atmosphere in which optimal students’ development can be achieved in both business and accounting contexts. This prepares the graduates to take responsibility in industrial, commercial, public and private sector of the economy.

    Policy Issues
    The programmes are designed to offer students in the faculty the opportunity to become business administrator, financial and human resource managers in public and private organizations. The students will also be effectively and efficiently utilized to harness available resources and take decisions on the problem of the organizations and their environment.
    The Polytechnic Calabar: College of Education, Awi: and IBB College of Agriculture, Obubra, are three tertiary institution that were merge t create Cross River University of Technology through Cross River Executive Bill No. 6 of 2004. This led to establishment of the Faculty of Management Sciences, Ogoja, in 2002, with the Department of Business Administration and Accountancy. Currently, the Faculty has three degree programmes as follows: B.Sc. Accountancy: B.Sc Business Administration: and B.Sc Hospitality and Tourism Management. These Departments offer four year degree programmes. The student population for 2014/2015 is for Accountancy, Business Administration and Hospitality and Tourism, as admission is through JAMB.

  • Business Administration
    Recently, the Department of Business Administration best graduating student in 2010 academics session Mr. Micheal Ushie, a First Class Hons. Degree holder came back from Leeds University in UK with a Master Degree. He has been employed into the main stream of the University and deployed to the Department of Business Administration.
    In the area of staff development, the Head of Department Dr. Sunday Ewah attended two international conferences in London and New Orleans USA between 2013 and 2014 where he presented three stimulated papers. The academics staff in the department have really benefitted from the funds provided by TET fund, by accessing such funds and using the funds to attend local and international conferences in the past four years. This has improved and enhanced their performance within the work environment and beyond.

    Accountancy Department
    Staff from the Department of Accountancy also benefitted from the TET fund in the area of local and international conferences attendance.

    The Department of Hospitality and Tourism
    The Department has just completed their 2015 field trip within the state. During the previous year, the trip took a student of Hospitality and Tourism outside the state.

    We intend to introduce Ph.Dprogrammes in Accountancy and Finance. Business Administration and other advanced degrees in the near future.
    The Graduate School of Management prepares men and woman for management careers in business. The School offers course work in many disciplines to provide potential managers with an understanding of the complexities of the professional world in which they operate and the of the organization of which they will become a part.
    A bachelor’s degree or its equivalent is required for admission to the two-year programme leading to the Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. Nearly half of the students have a background of undergraduate studies in art and science and about one-quart in other area of learning. Ten percent of the students begin their graduate training immediately after receiving their bachelor’s degree and the remaining Ninety percent enroll while at work.
    Post graduate programmes allow highly qualified students to register for degree while working thereby earning a Master’s degree in good time
    The doctorate programme that will be introduced through the Graduate school will provide an advance level education in business for those who seek careers in teaching and research at leading universities.
